My first muskie

Nice Job, Awsome muskie! What kind of bait/lure did you use?

I was casting with a firetiger floating rapala. Not sure how the rapala sizing works, but it is very large.

WOW! Nice fish. The thing that shocked me was the background. The power dam was where I fished as a kid, haven't been there in years. It was a bullhead, carp, smallie, catfish area back then. Certain times white bass were thick, also. They stocked walleyes a few years I think, but musky's I never dreamed of in there. The walleyes ever take off?

Right below the dam I have caught huge carp, channel cats, and now a muskie! I know of quite a few muskies coming out of there recently. Wading down stream a ways I have caught smallies and one or two walleye. It is a great fishery. There was even a sturgeon caught there this summer. I am hooked on muskie now. My arms are so sore from casting

I also caught my first Muskie in the Big Muddy..just below a dam, in 1959!!!
No doubt well before you were born.

Rivers always provide some great muskie action and hardly anyone fishies rivers for muskie. Now that your hooked it will only get better.

Thanks for the congrats. I did not have to wait long for number 2. I caught another nice muskie this afternoon, and lost one too. My arms are sooooooo SORE. Is there such a thing as casting elbow?
