reel stuck on rod

So im having issues getting my centerpin reel of my rod. It is held on by simple black rings like those found on many different ice rods that slide up and down the cork. It seems the cork has expanded. Any tips on how to get the reel off? I want to put it on my new raven rod for the spring runs.

Wold it work to use a hair dryer to soften up the rings, and dry the cork as well?

I have one stuck on a rod too. This a wood handle with graphite rings holding the reel on. It almost like the graphite shrunk and stuck to the unit. May have to try the hair dryer tho.

Get one of those pipe clamps and gently compress the cork. See if that will allow you to slide the rings down.

If the hair dryer doesnt work I would try very hot water soak the handle for a minuet or so then try sliding the reel retainers back

Eventualy got it off using ahammer and pounding on a socket driver. Screwdriver didnt alow enough surface contact
