I have been using Power Pro for the last few years and now I here people use a small leader of mono or fluorocarbon when jig fishing for walleyes for example. also I here some are using small swivels to cut down on line twist any one else trying these techniques Thanks RYan

I don't use swivels to connect my flouro to braid, I use back-to-back uni knots.

I don't use Vanish either. They say it's called Vanish because your baits and fish simply disappear when that crappy line breaks smile (and I believe it). Seaguar and P-Line are far better lines, even Berkely 100% Flouro line is better than Vanish (and I am not a fan of most Berkely lines).

I don't like to use a swivle either unless i'm running cankbaits( i use the back to back uni knot). I had read on here that the spools you buy for leaders is better than reg. flouro. I buy those pony spools( 25 yds.) Very happy with the results.

Note! And this is just my opinion, BUT! grin I have been using 1/8 PP for walleye. When i would get snagged and broke off, it was always where the leader attached to my main line. The other morning i did notice a small knot on the end of my braid, so i started wondering if the flouro was just sliding thru when i pulled on it. I switched to some 2/10 i had. What a difference. When i brake of now it's right at the jig, and i still have most of my leader. My thinking is that the 1/8 was small enough that the 10# wasn't biting onto it to hold completely.( have never lost a fish with it thou) Not certain, but the 1/8 is getting taken off the other reel.

One of the good things of lines like power pro is you don't have the line twist problem that mono and fluorocarbon have. So a swivel is not necessary. Less is better!

I have found that when I use the thin dia. line like 6 lb power pro it can cut through your leader line when pulled tight ( like cutting cold butter with fish line !?! ). when I reel in I have the end of the power pro line + knot with the knot end of the leader attached. So I stick with 10/4 lb lines for this type fishing and use the smaller diameter lines for throwing small stuff 16oz and smaller.
