i can tell u what i do but may be hard for you to duplicate, my parents buy a "very strong" poison that i dilute by 10x into hand sprayer and just spray em around outside of my house, kills em on contact, this is only way i have ever done it cause i know it works, if u did something with poison on inside make sure well ventilated and keep ppl away for a while, u will have a little mess to clean up as well.

Nards used sell a home barrier product... came in a clear 2 gallon jusg with a sprayer attached... used to work well for the asian beetles... otherwise we have used an additive in our stain for our log home, and it works well to repel and actually kills the asian beetles as well, once again, I believe it would work on alders... and maybe able to be applied mixed with water...

You can kill them and then you'll need to vacuum them up or you can just vacuum them up from the start. Grab your wand and suck-a-way.

I believe ours get in from the cold air return on the outside of the house and travel through the vents. that is the only thing I can think of where the asian beetles and boxelders come from.

Bug Maxx 365 is what I use on the outside of the house. Say it lasts a year. I have had it work for up to two years. Works on asian beetles and box elders.

Come to think of it, I think it is just called Bug MAxx now. I think they changed the name. Anyways, red gallon container. Haven't used anything any better.

Not helping for what's inside now, but will stop all future invasions.
