06 F350 Rubbers

Recommended Posts

Alright, Times coming up sooner than hoped for some new rubbers on my 06 1 ton ford... I have a set of dura tracs on there right now, and will probably get around 45000 out of this set. I would like to get a set of something that is a but more the best of all worlds, Good traction (on and off road, towing and plowing) and decent handling and maybe a bit better on mileage. I tow a lot (hooked up to a trailer a few days out of every week min)

I am Looking into possibly putting some michalins on er this time... Maybe there lxat2 (?) or there more highway style tire...

Possibly Transforces?

Who's out there working daily with your heavy trucks, and whats working for you on these trucks?

Thanks!

We've got the firestone transforce ht's on our 3/4 ton trucks. Good traction and good wear. Can't comment on off road use, but they seem like they would do just fine. We plow with them and they do great, but with any tire, snow performance fades the older they get.

Yes, that is true with about any of them... really I find once they are past about 50% most of them are not real sweet. I have heard good things about the transforces, just have never ran a set... i know the old steeltecs were supposedly the cats meow....

As a fellow 1-ton owner, I feel your pain.

All the guys I know are either running Duratracs if they need off-roadable tires or they run Michelin's. Michelins will last longer but they cost more.

I'm running BFG AT's right now and I'll be lucky to see 40K out of these. The duratracs were new when I bought them or I woulda gotten them.

Not sure what I'm getting next, but I'm hoping its not till next year.

I am not 100% sure what milage these where put on as I am not going to the same shop that originally put them on for me anymore, but I think i will be around 40-45,000 out of the dura tracs I have on now... they seam to be a pretty decent tire... traction was great when they where new, and is better than some now that they are getting closer to wore out.. I may go with another set of them... I am just debating if losing some of the off road ability is worth some extra miles and maybe a bit better stability on the road... my truck wanders a lot... but it could be a number of things... its been like that since I bought it... but it gets DOT inspected every year, so nothing should be worn thats not known about... seams as though they try to dream up what they can to fix when it goes in!

i run wrangler silent armors on my 04 dually and love em. i got over 60,000 out of em and i pull a backhoe with a 5th wheel trailer quite a bit a lil expensive but i think worth it. on my 3rd set since ive had the truck and wont put anything else on till they stop making them

I put a set of Michelin ATX AS tires on my 3/4 ton truck. They ride quiet and run smooth but probably aren't the best winter or off road tires. But then again I couldn't pass up the deal. I stopped in a tire shop looking around and they just pulled in a brand new Dodge that wanted to swap out the stockers for a more aggressive tire so I bought the Michelins for 125 each plus mounting. I figured at that price I can buy a set of winter tires next year and just run these in the summer/fall.

I pull a 20' enclosed cargo trailer several days a week too and I really like these over the BFG's it had on it that only got to 45,000.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
