Fishing Lake Vermiliion

I am going to be fishing Lake Vermilion the first week of mn walleye opener. Does anyone have any tips on where to catch some nice keeper walleyes? Where could I catch some bigger eyes? I have never been on vermilion so any info would be helpful. Thank you

I agree, the Vermilion forum is probably one of the most helpful places to ask some questions. Take a look through the extensive Q&A thread down there, I'm sure most of your questions have been answered by the guides.

It is different each year depending on ice out and water temps.

Since I'm expecting an early ice out I'd say they would move to post spawn areas in deeper depths, 15-25 feet outside of their spawning bays.

On the East side, since that is what I'm familiar with, probably the flats or rock piles outside of Pike bay, the inside turn north of the large opening to Stuntz bay, or deeper water with structure in Mud Creek bay.

whiskey island and the small bay just south and east. Narrows near echo point buy the big house on the point with the rock frontage...

But like any lake, to many factors to say you catch them there at any given time. Best luck lindy or spinners (silver) with rainbows.
