Which model for drop shoting?

I sent in a broken walleye rod to carrot stix, and I am going to get a drop shot rod in return. Would you recommend a medium, with extra-fast action, or medium heavy with extra-fast action. What is going to be the big difference in sensitivity in the tip. I am going to be using this for everything from smallies on mille lacs to largemouth in texas. Thanks for your help.

Depends what you are drop shotting with...

For my typical drop shotting I seem to almost always use a 3/16 oz bullet sinker as my drop shot weight. When I drop shot I kinda just feel like I am fishing the sinker rather than the worm etc. I feel for, drag, and nod the sinker and the worm or whatever I chose to use just does its thing up the line from the sinker. Therefore, I would match the rod to the sinker weight you are fishing, and secondarily to strength of line and cover etc. Medium heavy power for most rod brands would be overkill for my 3/16 oz sinker and the line I use (typically 8lb mono).

Each person is going to have their own opinion... and what works great for one, may not work great for another.

For me PERSONALLY. I would go M action, not MH... and Extra Fast, but then again, each company has a different idea of what that is.. ina spinning rod my fave dropshot rod is the Shimano Cumara 7'2" M XF..

My fave all around dropshot rod is a custom built by Thornebrothers.. .7'6" M Baitcaster..

I don't use a spinning for drop shotting. So I can't help you much on that front. I think a MH heavy is pretty stout for drop shotting. I typically never go heavier than 1/4 ounce and use a 6'8'' medium xtra fast baitcaster with 8 pound fluoro.
