I was thinking that the formula would give him a rough estimate of what he needs. that way he can look at generators in that price range and do research on them. The lower watt generators generally have different motors and components in them than the higher watt ones.

boar, check out Northern Tool, received a catalog in the mail yesterday, they had a Powermate 2200 watt generator for $299. Downside is that it weighted 94 pounds...

I have owned a honda 1000 watt generator for 15 years and no problems with it. My point is that 1000 watts runs the TV, satelite and the coffee pot. All at the same time. Remember people "life is math".

Check out the Powerhouse line of generators, not quite as expensive as a honda, but the reviews I have found seem to be good, plus the Big C carries them if you have points or a card with them

Honda is the only way to go. cant even hear it and it wont bother anyone else either.

Nothing takes away from a nice evening out on the lake than somebody firing up their noisy generator. I realize that they have every right to do that but it doesn't take away from the fact that it's annoying as %^&#%$! I run my house on 12v. If my battery gets low I put on another battery. I charge my batteries at home. (actually have one charging at the office right now so it's ready for tonight).

The 4 stroke gens are the way to go. You get your power and everybody else in a 300 yard radius gets peace. I believe there are other cheaper 4 stroke options out there besides Honda and Yamaha now.

keep an eye out on the john deere 1750 inverter style very quiet had mine for 5 yrs 0 problem and it has run many times in excess of 24 hrs you can also make an additional tank device to supply them and hondas outta a 5 gal tank so shut down time is rare!
