Goof Ball lure

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of the "Goof Ball" Muskie lure. I just picked up mine and it really looks like a winner! Very innovative. Great color patterns and paint. It's basically a surface lure. Picture a series of balls that seperate when the lure hits the water and then when you jerk it the balls Click when they smack together and make noise. The head ball also has a Lip on it so that it will wobble and swim on retrieve. You can keep your rod tip low and help it dive a little or keep your tip up high and make it splash. Scenic Tackle is making them and Mark at BlueWater Bait in Bemidji has them. They were a hit at the Muskie Show. Bruce Mosher

Sounds like a winner to me.
Good luck.
Best Lure ever for me is a 12" piece of old broom or mop handle, eye in front with two 6/0 hooks hanging off it.
Toss it in the right place, at the right time and BINGO, you win the contest.
Color don't mean Dick!
Sounds like THUNDAR can mean something though.
Like get off the lake, a storm is coming!

Fish don't see scales or smiles on lures.
See it, kill it, eat it...

See you all next week at the banquet deal.

I also bought one of these lures from Mark down at the show. Not sure if it'll work or not but I like to support Mark as much as I can. He has the best sport shop in and around the Bemidji area. Even though he is not as big as ****** will be, he'll be ok because he runs a sport shop like a sport shop should be run. Non of this get you in and get you out talk.

Can't wait to wet a line!~

Hi Jim,
I love throwing hair, they still catch way more muskies than any other bait.
The size and weight of a bucktail will depend alot on the application.

Early season muskies, generally want a
smaller profile so anything from 1/2oz
to 2oz's can be effective in the right situations.

For midsummer warm water presentations
I like to go with a 1oz to 1 1/2 but I also throw some smaller and some larger
depending on the situation.

In other words, I let the fish tell me what they want, and then I give it to them. smile.gif I love to throw spinnerbaits
for muskies in cold water, but they can be very effective all season long. smile.gif

If your burning your bucktails, a heavy
bait allows you to keep the bait in the water at high speeds. On the other hand "buldging" a bucktail up on the surface requires a lighter bait, with a larger blade for better lift.

Bass size spinnerbaits also have their place, I still boat several fish every season on smaller 3/4oz or even 1/2oz
spinnerbaits. smile.gif

Guideman ... I see you were wondering if the goofball catches fish ... I was fishing a orange and silver prototype out in front of the campground (west end) on Big V. and had a nice big muskie slam and hook up in 12' (casting deep and working back shallow over the dropoff). She unhooked herself at boat side and saved me the trouble.

Guideman,

Yep the proto type does bare tooth marks from the toothy critters that tried to eat it in the few times it was used. So the answer to your question is yes they do catch fish. The proto type worked well and the finished product will work even better!

This one is something unlike any other lure they have seen before. It shakes, rattles and rolls causing comotion to attract them toothy fish.

Guideman,

You would not see my name on this product if it did not catch fish. Before any of our products are offered for sale they are tested generally the year before. Then we take all the reports from the field testers and make any changes that need to be made. If a product does not catch fish or preform as expected it simply is not offered for sale.

Soon you will see "Goofballs" available or you can email me and I can give you details on how to purchase them.

I had a chance to cast the new Goofball muskie/pike bait from Scenic Tackle last weekend. I was really impressed how much chatter this thing makes when jerking it in. The paint and color patterns are very high quality. I guarantee I will catch a fish on this bait this summer and will post pics when I do.
