2000 watt is plenty. 1000 would be enough in most cases, but the 2000 doesn't cost too much more and will make your coffee and toast!

A 2000 would make coffee and toast but maybe not at the same time. Toasters pull 1500 watts. A 1000 would provide plenty for lights but even a coffee maker could max it out. Do not go cheap. I tried that. Now have a Honda 2000. Other units may be just as good but the noise is very important to any neighboring houses.

2000 watt if you plan on more than lighting. My advice is to get a Honda. Not only are the engines better but the generator produces much cleaner power. SOme of the cheaper units have such a dirty sinewave that you cannot run some electronic equipment.
