ice fishing a dead swamp???

I see ppl out on kelsey round lake in andover. from what the dnr says its only so deep and full of bullheads and experiences bad winter kills. first I seen one car out there a week ago wondering what hes doing now i saw 3 cars and a portable ice house out there. whats going on out there? fishing or other stuff?

About 7 years ago it had a ton of 3/4 pound sunfish and once word got out it got fished pretty hard. The following winter it winter killed fr the most part. It might have fish in it again. If you go out from shore about 200-300 feet there is a trench that goes to about 15 feet deep.

The dnr site has very little info about the lake the most i got was a above averege abundance of bullhead thats it. Ggogled it one site said it had bass crappies sunnies bluegill warmoth everything including gar! Says chances are you will get a bite and a good fishing. I asked once on here about it for bass fishing and was told its all a big muky swamp no fish hard access and its basickly a dead lake super bad winter kill. Should i give it a try? Ppl were close to shore scared to venture out since no ones out there except for close to shore. Would like some more info if possible this lake has me raising eyebrows

Believe it or not in the early 80s you could catch a walleye on every cast, heard the DNR used it as a rearing pond, also got nice sunnies crappies and some small bass. Word got out in the Coon Rapids Herald and that was all she wrote.....done!

there were a few that tried it this year and now there are none that i can see exept for an occational one person. like the one poster said, it had some nice gills at one time. at the time i drove by and maby seen a couple of cars, then a dozen, then a practicle village. i wouln't waste my time there now. good luck.

I drive by it every day and see some people out there most of the time. So I suppose that someone is catching something. I tried to put my boat in there one time and I backed in at least 80 yards and the axle of the trailer still was not wet.
