SkunkedAgain
I've currently got a bundled package with Century Link (Qwest) / DirecTV. The intro offer for the internet is expiring. I don't need the 40MB service and am quite frankly happy with 1.5MB service, since all we do is email and surf the web...zero downloads. Now that my promo offer is done, they want to charge me $40/mo plus taxes and all for the 1.5MB service, $45/mo plus taxes for the 7MB service, and so on.All said the bill will be in the $50-$55 range for internet. That's a lot. Are there any other decent internet service options out there? I'm in Richfield, so the Mpls wifi isn't available. Do I need to keep switching between Comcast and Century Link in order to get a reasonable rate? All of Century Link's good deals, like their price lock, require you to have home phone service too - which I don't need or want. Elybound
I'm in the west metro an my comcast bill averages $60. That is internet with basic tv only (no digital). They sent a flyer with their latest bill saying prices will go up Feb 1 by another $7-12. Hopefully others will respond because I my be following you and switching soon.I also have no need for a land line.
Powerstroke
Call them and tell them you're going to switvh because they are raising their rates on you. They may offer a lower price. If not, then yes, you're stuck playing the game unless you can use wifi at a coffee shop or library.
CJH
If you are in the metro and just want basic service, how about getting a wireless card or using your smart phone (if you have one) as a hotspot? Just a thought. We have high speed through Comcast and it is really fast and really expensive. If my wife didn't need it, we would drop down a level or two. Both Comcast and CenturyTel seem to be expensive w/ marginal service. Can't wait until its all wireless and you have multiple options/competition.......
