Another 4WD Question

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

I have a 2003 Chev Silverado 1500 5.8 with about 100K on it. My front differential was leaking some fluid so I had some seals replaced. Ever since then the 4 wheel drive has not worked. The garage that did the original repair has looked at it but can't find the problem. It has worked fine for years so I suspect they messed something up when they did the first repair.

When I hit the 4WD button the ligth switches over just fine the wheels do not engage. I am not getting any error or dash lights turning on, anyone have any ideas?

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Step one all four wheels of the ground.

Step two put in four wheel drive.

Step three is the front drive shaft turning

If it is than the problem is in the front. Check for power at the actuator, check to see of the actuator is is working.

If the front drive shaft is not working than the problem is in the transfer case.
