serious auger help needed!!

My wife was generous enuff to get me a strikemaster auger for X-mas ( used but runs like a top!) My trubble is this.. i need blades and i have NEVER seen an auger with 3 cutting blades! Ive even looked at strikemaster's HSOforum and cannot find the right blades, unless I was looking in the wrong place, which is possible.. I finally got out fishing today and it took me 15 minutes to cut ONE hole! It's a Lazer Mag Ultra, so ANY help is greatly appreciated!!!!

I believe you need three 9" lazer blades for it. From what I remember they only built the 3 blade auger in that size???

Not sure, I thought it was a 10 inch auger, but i could be mistaken!

I had same auger few years ago. I went to strike master and they switched it out for a two blade version. The three blade is very hard to keep intune. And believe his name is Ty told me they did not want them out there. Good luck.

May have to give them a call tomorrow, I dont want to get rid of the auger though cuz it purrs like a kitten!

what you have is indeed the 9 inch three blade drill unit. they were only made it that size and didn't go over well (same deal with the 224 four blade model). they both had a pitch issue. I would call or go to strike master and see what they will do for you. you will keep your power head they most likely will just ask you for the 3 blade model back and will give you a new 2 blade lazer drill unit. all the drill units are interchangable except the new 2 step chipper blade drill unit used on the big volt. I run a 1991 maagIII plus that came with a 8 1/4 inch chipper drill unit. I switched to a 10 1/4 inch chipper and then last year I got a 10 inch lazer for my power head.

My brother has one of these and due to poor performance over the years he has replaced the shaft with an old Mag III chipper style. Works much better for him now.
