Removing existing guides from rod blank???

Whats the best way to remove the epoxy from a store bought rod???? I have 2 rods that snapped near the reel seat and I am considering making ice rods out of them ,,, Does any one have an easy trick to taking off the existing guides so they can be moved ???

Take a cig lighter or anything that can give off a small amount of heat.

Hold the lighter under the guide by the epoxy for a half minute or so, it does not take long or that much heat.

Then take a razor blade or say an exacto knife and slide the blade along the epoxy and trim it off. If it is hard to cut into, reheat just a bit.

Thanks for the input Tom ,,,eyes came off real easy using a candle to heat it up ,,,got the grip put on,,, now to find a reel to put on it and Im set,,,I know I have another fly reel around here somewhere

A safer way would be to hold the flame to the side of the blank. You can ruin a blank awfully quick with heat.
