I'm assuming you're talking about the LakeMaster MN chip for Lowrance.

2008? 2009, maybe? I've kept a lot of lake lists from older version but it's getting almost impossible to find that sort of other info anymore, with LakeMaster having erased all references to Lowrance products from their HSOforum. Even if you click on a link on their FAQ page about discontinued products, it still only lists Humminbird stuff.

My Lowrance Expedition C quit acquiring signal a while back and so I replaced it with a Garmin 62st. I gave all of the Lowrance chips in my LakeMaster and Navionics collection to my fishing buddy whose H2Oc is still working... Otherwise, I could test a couple versions for you.

Correct me if I'm wrong. If I have a Lowrance unit with Lakemaster chip, it will no longer work? Guess I've been under my rock too long. Just recently found out about the 'Bird/Lakemaster deal. I think its a dumb move to leave Lowrance out. They may sell more Birds but will tick off just as many others. Corporate America can be hard to understand sometimes.

If you already have the chip you'll be fine.

I think it was a big mistake to leave out other GPS manufacturers too. Garmin makes the best handhelds out there and a lot of them. When LM stopped making a Garmin map, Garmin put them on clearance. They went quick.

Now Garmin put out their own mapset which includes as many MN lakes as the LM chip plus WI, MI, SD, ND, Rainy and LOW for the same price. It's definitely a better value for anyone with a Garmin.

Whats the latest and greatest chip you can get from Lakemaster for Lowrance? I have 2 older(2007,08) ones and wondering if its worth getting newer ones b/4 they are gone.

Mn version 7.1 was released last year. I picked up a new chip for all the midwest states just in case.

Hopefully bird improves their lakemaster map display performance greatly and continues to improve the map collection. Honestly as an avid Hbird SI fan, this purchase gives me mixed feelings
