Winni vs Mille Lacs Which do you like to fish better?

I am building a skid house and want to put it on one of these lakes. I havn't fished Winni in years but when I did we did awesome. I fish Mille Lacs quite often and I do, for the most part, catch many fish. Which of these two do most of you walleye and Perch guys like the most? If you could go to either of these lakes for 3 or 4 days at a time which would it be?

I like Winni better, for the simple reason that I am a little more familiar with it as oppose to ML.. I have finshed ML but have had mixed success, when I fish Winnie I always seem to have better luck. I am sure if I fished ML a little more often, I could figure it out a little better though. Point being any of the 2 are awesome, but like anything else probably got to put in the time to learn what works for you. Gd luck!

Mille, shes close to home produces bigger perch and walleyes. Winnie does tend to put out better then Mille though as far as numbers are concerned just not the larger fish consistently imho.

ditto both of you. i've only fished ml once but have spent hundreds of hours on winni. it seems like a much better numbers lake but big 28"+ eyes are very hard to come by. personally, when i'm ice fishing i prefer action over size if i have to choose. but being closer to ml would be nice too. i say pick whatever one you know better & have fun!

well this year better ice on winnie

I fish both alot well winnie more now than mille lacs but i have my time in over there

and i'd say consistently better bite on winnie specially as the winter goes...actually the best fishin though the ice I've had up there is in Feb for walleyes and northens

i dont target perch much but we did catch some and couple nice ones i'm sure it is like mille lacs you hafta weed though them

but walleyes i think you catch more on winnie BUT you arnt going to catch or have a shot at as big as you might on mille lacs but theres lots of 20-25inch to be caught on winnie

the big thing I really believe in is find a hump and theres plenty to pick from that hasnt seen any action and is way off the roads and traffic

i think that is the single most imporatant thing up there

ya people will tell you they caught fish staying at this place or that

and they probably did but you will get twice what they to!

just my opinion....i'm not really smart...but old..lol

Go to Winnie!! I want to keep as many houses off Mille Lacs as possible.
