Nils Questions

My first question is how well does a nils auger do at reopening exsisting holes? My next question is about the different blades. I have a 6" hand auger and thought that this blade would work on the powerhead. Is this correct? It does not have a power point. When I buy a second blade for the 6" is a power point even an option or is that only on the 8" model. Will the blades with the power point still work on my hand auger. How much will the power point help with the drilling?

Thanks Dave

Any blade Nils has will work on the hand or power auger. I like the center point blades over the non because the blade doesnt move on the ice when starting a hole and the center point seems to make the blade cut a tad easier/faster. I think because its breaking the ice up before the big blades get to it. Its not a huge difference. I think the center point also helps the life of the blades sharpness wise.

As far as opening old holes yes it will work fine for that. A chipper bladed auger is probably better if you own a perm and reopen holes every time out but the Nils will have no issues doing so.

Thanks guys that answers the questions I had. I'm trying to make a decision on what my next auger will be and it is becoming more and more clear that a Nils will be my next choice. I picked up a 6" hand auger a few weeks ago and that thing just flies through the ice. I punched our six holes through about 13" of ice this morning with very minimal effort.

Thanks again Dave

Power Points are only available with the 8" blade.

I've been using the Nils to open old holes in the perm for a few years now with zero problems.

I actually think the Nils works better then my old Strike Master chipper at opening old holes.

The chipper would bind and you'd have to lift up quite a bit.
