Guest
I saw this pic too. Here is the story that went with it.Check this out!"This is an actual fish caught on the Ottertail River near Wahpeton, NorthDakota. It was authenticated by the Game and Fish Department in 2001.It was caught by an angler by the name of Donald Tayer of Wahpeton NorthDakota." Biggestfish
Hey Wildlineman, It kind of makes you wonder about all those crappies we ate out of the Otter Tail River. I hope we don't end up growing any extra parts. ------------------Just Having Fun!Love to Fish.

Guest
There is absolutely no truth to our verifying this fish. We actually received the same photo about a year ago and at the time were told it originated from the southeastern US. We have not seen the fish nor have we been contacted to verify same. The picture looks pretty good but with today's computer technology it's very easy to 'morph' pictures such as this. If you view the picture with a scientific eye the 'straight' pike looks to be in very good shape with the smaller pike not much worse. A anomaly such as this in nature would likely not survive long let alone be in such good shape. How would it forage efficiently? Until we actually view the fish we are considering it a hoax and a fake. Terry Steinwand, Chief - Fisheries Division
hattrk4me
My first thought was computer generated too. It makes for a good conversation peice.
Jimmy
I would have to say it is computer generated too. My experience with aquarium fish is that the fish just get deformed fins and mouthes. I strongly believe that a fish born that way would die very quickly. I meen think about it, if you looked like that and had to swim in who knows what kind of conditions you wouldn't live very long either. Bottom line: It's a hoax. another fisherman joke!Jimmy
rollz2002
i have been studieing this pic for a whole 3 sec i have comcluded that the littleer northern was put on the stringer first and when the second one was caught it was put on over the littler one so the little one's head is under the bigger one's gill plate Duh!!!!!!! beaverlakeman
ok, this pic is a hoax....it has been in a couple other forums..after seeing this here i thought to myself,( wow, i just saw this same pic in another forum. and i was right.)OK to all of you that want to read up on what other people are saying i have copied a few things and i am going to paste them here..hope it works so here it goes..Matt Cyr Experienced Member Member # 91 posted May 03, 2002 05:35 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------That's been posted on another site and ruled a hoax. Just thought I'd clear that up.Matt --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posts: 91 | From: Omaha, NE/ Fort Worth, TX | Registered: Jan 2002 | IP: Logged Brett Member in Training Member # 586 posted May 04, 2002 07:55 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------I can see how it could be a hoax. You could easily slip a smaller northern under the gill of the bigger pike and make it seem like one. I would think it could be duplicated but i cant say for sure. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posts: 8 | From: Lincoln | Registered: Jan 2002 | IP: Logged Gerald Coates Experienced Member Member # 228 posted May 05, 2002 12:18 AM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------It looks to me like they had the small one on the stringer and slide the big on later and like you said the small one slid inside the big ones gill cover. I can not see the stringer rope coming out from under the big fishes jaw. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok good, it worked.. but if you all want to see more go to www.fishingnebraska.com Just click on the forums page and the post will be called "you mid-westerners grow some weird fish"..have fun allbeaverlakeman

Steve Foss
There's a computer program called Photoshop that can easily accomplish this fake. My wife works with the program extensively and can make a photo look like anything she wants, and make it look natural.
