Chain case what weight?

I bought a used 1999 Polaris Indy Trail. I am going to change the lube in the chain case. I bought a suction gun to suck out what I can, but what do I refill it with?

There should be a hole in the belly pan right below the chain case to drain the oil. It is a allen wrench type plug. I don't think you will get much out with a suction gun. I just use Polaris synthetic chain case oil or I think you can get a synthetic chain case oil from fleet farm or any parts stores.

I knew there was a plug but didn’t know there was a corresponding hole in the belly pan. That will make it a lot easier. I’ll do it tomorrow afternoon when it’s a little warmer. Is there a set amount to add or just add some and check on the dipstick? Thanks.

It doesnt take very much and it should say in the manual if you have one. Or just add a little at a time and check the dip stick. You can also measure what comes out to get an idea on what to put back in.

Not sure how much it will take, I think it is around a half of a quart. If it has reverse it will take a little more.

We have always used tranny fluid.
