If the camera freezes you will get the blue screen.

Put the camera in the water and leave it close to bottom until it thaws.

I got the replacement camera and still had the dots on my screen though not as prominent. I called AquaVu again and now they are sending out a replacement display. I will mix and match all of the pieces and send back the worst of the bunch. If the problem isn't solved I'll be returning the camera. Curious what water depth people with success are using these cameras in? I have had mine down in 20-30 ft of water with no luck yet. Even in well lite conditions (sun over head). I'm now wondering if it isn't better suited for shallower water, which wont work for me because the reason I bought it is for checking out waters 30'-50' deep.

[Note from admin: Here's one with Micro footage in 26' of water]

Hey Spike,

I have been using mine on Rush Lake from 28-35 ft of water. (dirty water) I could see my lines & my buddies lines in color with no problem. So about 4-5 ft away & it was clear. This was in the after noon. My buddy & I both were watching the screen like we were sitting on the coach. I have the Pro-snake attached to my portable pole.

Went up to LOW in 30 ft of water & I could only see black & white about 2 ft away. Still was clear untill the fish came in & stirred up the bottom. The camera was sitting low, but I could still make out the fish to set the hook.

Well I tried it out again yesterday with zero improvement. I just finished packing it up I am returning it. Seemed like it would have been a great tool to have but out of the parts sent for me to replace and try nothing was any better. Certainly not what I was expecting for use in the water I intend to use it in anyway.

I guess the quality is subject to the individuals use as some people have had no issues in similar situations, just not the exact same lake.

This is no miracle camera. As with any other UW camera you will have issues with stained water.

What makes water stained or dirty? Particulates and bio junk. The more of this stuff in a body of water, the less visability you have. The camera "sees" this stuff in the water just as you do with you eyes. Not only that, but infrared lights will reflect off of these particulates.

But even so, this Micro Vu will easily light up the bottom structure in even the most stained water to show you what you are set up above. Today I was in some of the most dirtiest water I've fished in and could still get a decent enough image to know I was in a sandy/silty area. It was only 7FT deep, but there was no way I was going to be able to use it to fish effectively.

If you regularly fish a dark stained lake/river or a body of water with a lot of junk in it, I would caution about buying any underwater camera.

I can tell you this though, it was very easy to find a rock to mud transition area on the St Croix river yesterday in 30 feet of water.
