What pound test?

I'm headed to lake of the woods to chase some walleyes in feb. Wondering what pound test is best for jigging walleyes? I was going to use 4 or 6 what you think? Mono? I am a panfisherman so lay it on me . Every trip I have been to mille lacs I had my panfish gear and did just fine bringing big walleyes in. I use 2 pound test. I want to beef it up for the consistant catch of bigger fish. Was thinking 4 lbs.

LOW water is kinda dark, I think 6lb would be a good match. I use berkley 6lb micro ice, it works for me. Thin diameter and really strong.

go with six. water is dirty and you will want it when you tie into a big pike

I love 4lb test over almost any othe rline for eyes except for trolling

In the winter thats all I use just have to use the drag abit more.

The 4lb lets the lure fall as natural as it can without to much stiffness

I have used a underwater camera to watch the subtil differences and I will always go with 4 before 6 when comes to eyes.

Just check your line by the hook more often and you should be fine

6# braid for me. Just incase I get a gator on. very clear lakes I will go with 4# mono.

I would use a small swivel also for line twist.

Or a big sturgeon...

Those fish aren't line shy up there, so I wouldn't hesitate going with 6 or even 8. I sometimes feel like I get better action with the heavier line too. A bit slower drop, and a bit sharper of a jig too.
