Ice Cleats and Hyfax suggested!

I would strongly suggest to anyone that does not have them to get a pair of Ice Cleats for walking and put on some Hyfax on your porty and maybe a new pair on your sled.

With this bare ice and all the ice chunks that are building up on most lakes it is going to wear the bottom of your porty down to nothing in short order this year.

I think we are going to end up with a few split heads from falls! eek

Keep the rubber side down and becareful! smile

Both came in very handy today for me. Without either of them it would have been challenging to venture out on the lake I was on. Hyfax runners no matter if they are ski's or runners from your shanty company are relatively cheap and will add years on to the shanty. Money well spent I guarantee you! Ice cleats come in many varieties, I have a pair that are prolly 15yrs old and work awesome. Saved me a few times from breaking some bones. Be Safe and Good Luck!!

i got one of las pair or yacktracs yesterday in Rogers...worth every penny this am on lake, not so sure bout spending $ on hyfax yet

IMO it is a great investment to protect any sled, regardless if you are towing it by machine or hand. The hyfax will protect your sled from the wear when dragging your shack from the ice to the truck/car. Parking lots, paved and graveled, will do a number on your sled in a short amount of time.

You can pick up Polycarbonate strips from many sign stores or plastics companies pretty cheap. Generally they will rip the stock to the length and width for you in about any thickness you could imagine. We did 2 shacks for around $50 this year.
