skiinglady
Just wondering. Is it legal to shoot a rooster in the ditch of a road that runs through a game farm? Of course I would have the necessary stamps, etc.
fivebucks
If it's posted - No. If it is non-ag land meaning no fences etc and not posted then - yes. This is of course talking a smaller road and not major highway. That's my opinion anyhow but I think it's accurate.
pureinsanity
When in doubt call the DNR!I would call them anyway. Not saying people don't know what they are talking about but having a DNR answer from the CO's supervisor is better then taking a word for guys like me. Jmnhunter
MN landowners dont seem to know of the road right away laws, they get really defensive fast!
shooter72
Road right-of-waySome road right-of-ways are not owned by a unit of government. In these instances the landowner has granted an easement for vehicleand foot travel. The landowner generally retains authority to restrictaccess for hunting or trapping and may prohibit trespass by postingthe land or by verbally directing hunters and trappers to leave theeasement. It’s always best to ask permission if in doubt about the ownershipof a road ditch area. County or township offices also may beable to help determine the ownership status of a road ditch. Correct...I had this discussing with the DNR some time ago but I think it still holds. Every county and township can have different types of right-of-way ownership. Only assuming here but the majority of ditches are legal to shoot from (county/township rd) but I'd call the county offices before hunting a certain area and find out for sure to make sure that land owners themselves don't own them. However, if you find out it's legal, no need to ask permision as you can almost garuantee what the answer is going to be as it's bordering a game farm...but use some common sence and respect what they are doing as it's their buisness and just trying to make some money! adamr
I think its pure greedy. Get out walk some sloughs , crp, tree lines and get your own birds if its tough hunting go talk to the game farm about buying a few birds and putting them on your own land. We did that this year when we had quests and wanted them to get some shooting i was surprised about how long the birds lasted in the wild we still got a few 3 weeks after we put them out. We were able to get birds for 13 to 25 a bird depending which farm we bought them .As far as circling the section waiting for one of his birds to step out not only are you going to [PoorWordUsage] him off im sure hell complain to his neighbors about you and your chances of hunting there land will be slim . Dont be so lazy.
