jsr426hemi
Truck pulls it fine. We use the truck to pull our travel trailer which probably weighs 8000 lbs loaded. The fish house weighs around 5000 lbs. The mileage is about the same or a little worse with the fish shack probably because of the cold temps and crappy roads. We pulled the shack at 70mph on the interstate to test it and it pulled great, no swaying. One axle works okay but I would use 2 if I build another that size for more stability and greater cargo capacity. Pretty much at the limits of the tires, spindles and leaf springs. After building it from scratch I am just waiting for something to go wrong but so far so good!
waschy
Guys, who is building all of these houses? What are the best custom ice house builders around?
landscaper
well…..I would LOVE to quit my day job and Custom build fish houses!! but most people build them themselves or get the shell from some manufactures
Hawg
JSR- that's a great idea for wheel covers. First time I've seen it done that way.
jsr426hemi
Thanks! The covers work well. Sure helps so the wheel wells don't get snow packed. My mom is a seamstress so she sewed up the edges for me. Got some heavy tarp material from a tarp company. I too would love to build shacks and sell them on the side. No one makes them in Iowa so I am sure I could sell a few. Smoker
Not yet. It is just spray foam right now. Finishing off the inside is my summer job. Hopefully by the end of May it will be done because I need it for a camping trip that last weekend
walleyewiz0212
This was my fall/winter project this year. There is still work to be done but it worked great all winter. Frame & skeleton from Ice Assult. Everything else was custom. This is a temporary door since the one I ordered hasn't came in yet. It will be the same color as the siding. landscaper
Walleyewiz0212Very Nice looking house! What size and any more pictures? Are the windows tinted? I really like that look!!! Who/where you get it done at
walleyewiz0212
It is a 8 x 19 with a 4' V. I first wanted an 18' house but wanted the bay window. I decided to do the angled corners and add an extra foot off the back. The windows are mirrored glass. During the day you cant see in them what so ever. At night you can see inside very faintly. I did all the work myself. I ordered the frame and skeleton from Ice Assault out of Big Lake and did the rest on my own. Lip Ripper Guy and his thread was a huge help during the whole process. The interior is not completely finished. Still some wires hanging out and some trim work that needs to be done. I plan on finishing this up during the summer. PM me for more details if you want.
