Marcum LX5 Mods For Transducer Cup??

FISHINGURU

Recommended Posts

Just received my brand new Marcum transducer for my LX5, the wires were loose and showing themselves where it connects to the transducer.

Not sure if it happened from me pulling it out of ice holes when it was kind of frozen in a bit or pulling it out when it was frozen in the cup, I thought maybe it was from me but after reading some reports around here it might of been how it sits in the cup.

What are the best mods for this? I don't want it happening again with my brand new transducer!

I also got the new snow cover so no more snow and ice shavings going on my screen!

Thanks

Ive heard of guys putting a few drops of some kind of silicone caulking in the bottom of the foam pocket so the transducer never sits flush in the bottom.

Personally, I never put the transducer in the foam hole until I'm headed home for the day. then when I get home I bring the unit inside the house and remove the transducer from the holder and let the foam dry out completely.

Whats the talk about the transducer sticking to the cup even though it's not frozen?

When I'm out on the ice I like to just simply lay the transducer on it's side with no freezing problems.

Maybe I just need to lay it on it's side 24/7 lol.

That's what I do, all the time. No probs. It will stick even without freezing due to the stoopid "cushion" in the cup...

The adhesive that Marcum uses to adhere the cushion to the bottom of the transducer cup can cause the foam to stick to the bottom of the transducer. I have heard from others that they peeled off the foam from the bottom of the transducer using their fingernails and that the transducer still works fine even with some foam still on it. I just place my transducer in a sock and then place it in the cup to prevent the problem. It has worked out so far. Hope this helps. grin
