Phone cord for portable wiring

I have a set of LED lights from the OPS. I was wondering if its possible to use a coiled phone cord and attach it to the poles, that way as my portable collapses the cord would coil up. I think it's rated to 50 volts but not sure.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. But the small braided wire was kinda weak and tiny. I'm not sure I would do it again.

You can, a phone cord has 4 wires (somewhere in the 2X gauge range) and should have no problem with the current draw of the LEDs. Not that it is any better than just wrapping regular wire around them.

I put changed mine from straight wire in the poles to coiled cell phone charger cable at the end of last season. I was having issues collapsing my portable all the way with the wire in the tube. Now with the coiled line on the outside, I can collapse it all the way down.

And, as long as there's four wires, use two together for positive and the other two together for the negative. Should be plenty of conductor for LEDs.

Or, if you use the framework of your shelter as the "ground" for your lights, you only need to run one wire for positive up to the lights. I did this with one of my shelters and it's working great.
