I know there's already a few posts about this but I just want to ask a question and don't want it sitting at the bottom of page two til Saturday. I'm looking to buy a new portable this year at the show from Clam. A friend of mine told me that I have to buy it from Reeds or one of the big box stores then go back to Clam and see about getting a deal on a cover? I wanted to buy directly from clam and see if I could barter a bit. Any thoughts?

at the show you don't buy directly from the manufactures. you buy from the vendors (thorne, marine general, reeds, & others) then they send you to the loading dock at the show to pick it up. to get the best deal you have to shop the vendors against each other by saying "well this place will sell that house for X dollars can you beat the price if I buy it from you". ask them if they will throw in a travel cover some might or give you a good discount on one.
