electronics suggestion???

My cousin contacted me asking for a suggestion for a new graph. He's looking for a big screen (approx. 8-10 inch), sonar/gps combo, ability to read chips, and a cost of $1000-$1500 (approx). Can anyone recommend the options that might be a good fit for him?

I would stay away from Lowrance and go with a Humminbird in that range.

We have both brands but on different boats,GPS on the Bird may be a bit better but not by much, graphing capabilities are far better on the HDS....I'll be keeping my HDS my buddy is thinking hard about dumping his 2 birds and going to the HDS to...HDS does allow for future expansion of side/down imaging, radar, ect, with HB you have to buy this at time of purchase....$1500 in the Lowrance line up your looking at the HDS-8 base map after the $200 rebate....10" will cost you $400-$500 more....
