new bird 55 second cable

went to the ice extravaganza yesterday at gander and bought a hummingbird55 . after putting it together i was wondering if all you bird guys put the second cable on with the power cable. seems like it would get in the way at times and wondering if it is really needed. whats your thoughts on this ?

Totally agree with DTRO. The cable I believe is there for patent reasons. One does not need it but you can use it if you want to. Has to be on perfect or your transducer will be at an angle and give you a false reading.

I would guess a very big majority of the users out there do not use the support cable.
