muc33
did anyone find the new update for the iphone did any better on battery life. to be honest, I haven't had any issues, but I know some say the battery life on their 4s is horrible, my 4s has way better battery life than my droid x did, so I am happy, but wondered if it was to my advantage to do the update. fisherman-andy
In my family household we own a total of 2 3G, 1 3GS, 2 iPhone4, and 2 iPhone 4S.The 4, 4S are all currently on 5.01 latest software update. Before the update no problems with battery.I dont doubt that the 4S does use a bit more battery than previous iPhones due to its specs. However I find it hard to believe the my own iDevices plus plenty of other users I know that have iPhone 4S dont have the same issue. This leads me to conclude either its an user error issue, software error, or hardware battery defect.Remember that some intensive Apps that use alot of data and run in background if left open will use more battery life. Such Apps include locations services, GPS, online App gaming etc.You should always attempt a power cycle or reset of your device if your experiences issues. IF the issue persist then your options are to start a process of elimination. If your experiencing battery issues restore your iPhone to the factory settings. Before you do this learn how to sync your data to the computer or cloud. Hence I do not use the word "backup" here. You will not be restoring from a backup as a backup is typically a carbon copy of your iPhone before the restore. Restoring from a backup defeats the purpose as a restore to factory settings.Once you have restored your iPhone to the factory settings. Sync you data back to the iPhone. This includes contacts, pictures, Apps, media etc. This process is time consuming but well worth the effort to ensure there is no software error that is causing part of the problem where your experiencing poor battery life.If your still having poor battery issue even after a full complete restore and have done a full battery drain to 20% and full charge take it in for service. Shack
I do not believe any feature upgrades came with 5.01. I am sure there were some bug fixes and security issues that were fixed. I have not upgraded yet even when the beta was released. When I get a notification of a new Beta release, Apple details out all the news stuff pretty well. This update, being as quick as it came out, only said this: At the moment I am not currently developing anything with iOS so I decided to pass this Beta but will upgrade to the stable in the next day or so. LMITOUT
Apple's iOS 5.0.1. update was supposed to relieve the battery drain on the company's latest iPhone, but some users are complaining that the fix didn't work and, in some cases, made the problem worse."The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS5 devices," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said. "We continue to investigate a few remaining issues."The update was released Thursday, and by Friday, many users had taken to Twitter and other forums to discuss the efficacy of the update."Is it just me or did the #iOS5 update do absolutely nothing to address the battery issues?" chadmolloy said on Twitter."iPhone 4s has gone down to 34% battery in 7 hours... Update never worked," richcovephoto tweeted.Twitter user DanGunam had a more successful experience, writing: "I can already see the difference with the new iOS5 update 5.01 my battery life is longer."
