Late Season on Chequamegon Bay

Recommended Posts

Have had lots of requests and e-mails about fishing up here during the late season. With that, I made up a video (fairly long) about the different baits and areas I look for up here to get bit. Hope it helps a few HSO folks who come to the area to catch a few more fish, as the fishing here in the late season is a special one - lots of big fish.

Its just getting good now!! I am predicting the first week of November, the fish will be on a real tear - so get on up here with David!! smile Give a call, might even have a few open seats in a boat, so you dont have to tow anything.

I want to say thank you to Jim for putting us on the fish this weekend. For anyone considering a fall trip: Leave your boat and gear at home and meet Jim at the landing!

He is a great guide and a great person.

Fishing was unbelievable!!!

Also, FYI, here is some info pertaining to size limit regulation of the slow growing fish here of Chequamegon Bay.. The most any of these fish grew was .5 inches in the time frame between captures. Check out the last tag number I turned in... 22 YEARS OLD!!

Good Morning Jim!

(G)K 413 was tagged on 8/06/09, north of the green can buoy, and was 18.3 inches long. Approximately 13 years old.

(G)K 7623 was tagged on 6/11/11, off the south side of Oak Point, and measured 17.5 inches. This bass was approximately 9 years old.

(G)K 4383 was tagged on 10/07/10, off Kreher Park, and was 16.2 inches. Approximately 6 years old.

(B)A 9529 + red string was tagged on 6/11/09, in the Eagles Nest, and measured 18.1 inches. This bass was 22 years old when you landed it. I had aged this one back in 2009 at 20 years old.
