So I was going to go out a couple more times, is it worth it? The last many times I've been out I haven't caught any LM in a long time. I'm a morning person but should I wait till the afternoon and work the shallows?

Well worth going out. I'm a morning person as well, but this time of year, Banker's Hours (10-3) seems to be the better - for me at least.

Finally I put some tanks in the boat sunday! Thanks RK and the guys for keeping me motivated out there. I managed to find a good school of 3 and 4 lb fish stacked up in the shallows. They were setup against cat tails that still had some green in them combined with 3FOW, pads, and some thin mill-foil.

It was a half oz outkast RTJig in blue/black for me also, seemed to do the trick well. I also managed one off a doc. Surface temp was just under 47deg.

Saturday was a little different story. I fished a chisago area lake and found several fish up shallow. I could see them, just couldnt make them bite too well. I must have seen over 50 bass that were well over 3lbs. I did manage one on a half oz outkast rt jig in camo and caught another on a 3 inch senko jig worm. Both were about 17.5 inches.

The fish seemed very flighty so I did my best to make long casts. It seemed that these fish were tightly schooled where there was good hard structure mixed with weeds in 1-4FOW.

I am guessing the blue-bird sky didnt help. I coudlnt get anything to bit a fast moving bait all weekend.

The best bite was from about 10 - 3.

Made it out saturday, from 10:00 am to about 2:00 pm. Managed 6 LM. 6-8 feet of water on the edge of Coontail. Nice fish, four over 4 and two over 3. Later in the day, switched to some crappies and caught a very nice 7lb dogfish, almost golden yellow in color. Fooled me for about 90 seconds, thinking I had a big eye, thumpin under the boat.

I too thought I had a hog walter on this summer. I seen the fish take the bait and thought huge walleye, then it was way to much of a "dog"" fight, so I knew it was a dogfish. They are absolute beasts when it comes to fighting, especially on walleye gear!

Hey grab the net,

Was up in your neck of the woods last saturday. Fishing for smallies in the morning and largies in the afternoon. Did well on both but no pigs. Picked up 45 smallies with most in the 2.5-3.5 range. Managed 20 LM in the 2.5-4.5 range, two 4.5 pounders everything else under 4. What "area" were you fishing?

I agree with those banker hours - with an early closing. Fished Saturday from 10:30 until 3:30, but the fish quit at about 2 PM. Caught 9 L.M. smallest at 2 1/2# and largest at 4 1/2#. Fishing in 4 - 6' of water casting towards bullrushes - Crow Wing Chain of lakes, Nevis,Mn area. This was old school fishing - 14' rowboat, no electronics, no power, the way my Dad taught me 50+ years ago. It was fun - I always pull my main fishing boat in early October & give it up for the year. This year I dragged that old upside down boat down to the water and gave it a try. Glad I did !!!!

I was on the C&R lake south of my place. Shallow access. Was hoping for a big day, didn't pan out. Hoping for one or two more trips. Buddy got a 6-10 north of Underwood on saturday afternoon, plus a bunch of 4's. Water temp was still right at 50 on my temp gauge.

If the weather holds this weekend I'll probably be headin up to your neck of the woods. Probably go for smallies in the morning and then largemouth in the afternoon/evening. It will really be dependent on the weather though. The wind will play a big role in where i decide to go.

I almost fished the lake you were on during the afternoon on saturday, but decided to go a little further north instead. Maybe I'll see you around this weekend.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
