Musky or big pike reel How much to spend?

I am looking for advice on how much does a guy need to spend for a good reel for throwing musky lures. I have a Shimano Curado 200 and it works gret for bass and have caught a 25lb pike with it. I am wondering if a person can get by with a large curado or should I move up to a Calcutta?

I am a person that believes you get what you pay for. Any advice would be great.

The reel you have would work fine for smaller musky lures, but casting bulldawgs or double 10s you would probably blow it up.

I have a revo toro 60, NOT the winch OR the HS and this is an amazing reel.

if you want an all around reel go with something that has a mid range gear ratio like 5.4:1 or similar.

Calcuttas are nice, but it really depends how much fishing you will do to justify it. I got my Toro for like half price so it was a sweet deal.

Going to a 300 curado would be a good choice for you as well.

I have the Winch, and the HS 60 for the Revo Toro family and the 400B for Calcuttas and they all serve a purpose, for mostly pike fishing I would go with the HS 60 or the 400 B the HS 60 has a very fast retrieve and I like to burn em when fishing pike to get that reaction strike, but if you are getting into DCG's and other big blade lures go with one of the other two for sure. The Winch takes the fatigue out of the bigger bucktails and the Calcutta has no problems and is just all around nice.

I own both the Calcutta 400 and Curado 300, both have their duty but if I had to pick one for an all around reel it would be the Calcutta since finding the 5:4 Toro 60's are near impossible now.

I run 5 reels and all are set up for different things, Calcutta 400 for ripping mag dawgs/cranks, Toro 60 5:4 for double 10's, Toro 5:4 for gliders and some walk the dog baits, Toro HS for jerkbaits/ 10" Weagle/Wabulls, and the Curado for burning smaller bucktails. Will be adding a 6th over the winter to burn big blades with next year.
