Live frogs

Wondering if anybody uses live frogs this time of year? Never tried it before and just wondering how you'd rig and hook them. Also, would you swim them back or just deadstick them? Hoping to try it river fishing and maybe pull in a big gal or two. Thanks!

Frogs work. Things that look like frogs work. Things that vaguely look like frogs work. Cast out, retrieve along the bottom.

I've caught Walleye on frogs up north ( not leopard frogs ). I've fished twin tail jig in a manor like a frog swimming stroke letting it bump bottom between strokes. It can really turn them on this time of year.

Never fished with them myself. Come to think of it, I've never fished a river either.

But my dad always tells me how they used to catch walleyes as kids on the Ann River using frogs hooked through the lips with a plain hook and the heaviest sinker they could find a foot or so up from the hook. Let those frogs crawl around on the bottom and wait for the tug.
