Guest
i fish a small lake in western wisc, some evenings on calm water you can see the crappies schooling near the top of the watereither chasing bugs/minnows.this action will last somtimes 15/35 minutes before dusk but not always.saturday evening i caught 35/45crappies before it quit, too bad they were all7 1\2 to 8 1/2 inchers, they seem to stop just like they started forsomeapparent reasonthe water just goes back to calm, was fun catching a fish on every cast, they hit any thing that moved, never have figured out why

united jigsticker
Yep. Crappies with the feed bags on. I've seen this tendency all the way through August, with the Crappies being right under the surface over depths as deep as 25 feet of water.Had a couple guys on a pontoon fishing next to us one evening last summer. We were catching Crappies right underneath the surface to beat the band while they fished without luck with slip bobbers 2-3 feet off the bottom. They laughed when we suggested adjusting to 1-2 feet below the surface, especially being over 20 feet of water, but when one of them finally did, they got into the action as well.------------------Good fishing, UJ[email protected]
