sometimes it doesn't matter what you use and they just wont bite. weather changes and all the rest of the reasons we as anglers blame it on. one thing over the years i have found out is that if the bite is tough i go with live bait under the bobber. minnows would be my choice this time of the year. there are no magic answeres. i have had many days of not having a bite and getting frustrated. now i just enjoy the day and give the nod to the fish. there will be plenty of days where they will come into your net or flop on the ice. fish where the bait is. around structure, off breaks, weedlines ect. i know this sounds like you have heard it before many times but it's the truth. i dont know what your fishing for so it's hard to be specific. good luck.

Yesterday was a day like that for me. Just a slow fishing day. Today I went and tried a few different spots. Spots that I dont often fish because its either boom or bust. Well it was boom today. I find that there are days where fish arent biting real well but I also try to keep a mind frame that there are fish biting some place on the lake/river all the time. May be shallow may be deep may be in between. I just have to figure it out. Question is do I have enough time, bait and patience. wink

"What Fish Want?"...to be left alone by fisherman!

I hear ya...I was out on one of my favorite walleye lakes yesterday, and got skunked. Tried all of the tactics you were using, and no 'eyes. I decided to fish for the bigger perch...caught a bunch of smaller ones. Finally started trolling for pike with spoons and my buddy landed a nice 33"er. I guess I got too excited when my bait shop had shiners in and thought the walleyes gotta be biting...geez, I'm such a creature of habit.

Give a week or so, and they'll start up again.

i guess im glad im not the only one with this problem though i dont wish bad luck on anyone, guess maybe it was that kinda day sat., and maybe i should not have tried so hard & just enjoyed the ride and quiet. wife says just enjoy the time & let rest happen, which is what you guys say also, so next sat it will just be a boat ride with a line out, no expectations
