This is absolutely ridiculous. Bear hunting in MN for 15 years on both public and private lands I am comfortable enough to say harvesting a bear in MN is hard enough. It's not an easy task. The person that harvested a bear should feel a sense of accomplishment. Small or not. (to each his own)

The bear was harvested legally and ethically and I dont see how that can be argued.

Since a human decided to give this wild animal a name and invade on the wild animals life, I would like to refer to the only whitetail that I know of with a name. This whitetail is much more known than Hope.

Like my bro said, the whitty one that he is, WHO SHOT BAMBI? Shouldnt he/she be repremanded to a much more extreme?

Hey guys just thought about it you go to his web site and he has the donation bar and shows last few postings for money donated. all I it a big fundrasier at our expense. Send out the message that a legal bear gets shot. Soccer mom in the tc area get upset and sends in $20 for memory of hope the bear along with how many more tree huggers give a $20 or more. How much money do you think he raised last year when one of the other bears got shot? We are getting used thats all he gets rich and we loose face in the public eyes.

Love all the comments here. Totally agree with Picksbigwagon (hopefully I got that right)

TR Michels is NOT helping the hunting cause, at all. Has anyone here read his blogs? The Lily fans are latched to him like glue because Lynn has endorsed him as a hunter yet an advocate for the bears. Now he is presenting his thoughts as facts, and the fans totally believe him. It's insane.

People just don't understand the culture, and they don't understand hunting. On the flip side, I have to be honest that I wouldn't have a clue how to survive in a large city and I'd probably get lost on the subway. But it seems to me that many (or at least most of those actively posting on FB and on news articles) are just doing damage to the very cause they support. Regardless of why he says it, Lynn has asked them to be understanding and supportive of hunters and they have done just the opposite.

I do not agree with the way Lynn plays on emotion when he's addressing the fans in his updates. I don't agree with everything that he does or says, by far. I do think there is room for both research and hunting, but what I see from Lynn lately is not research. He caters to the fans and the only reason he would have for doing that is to prevent losing more fans (and their checkbooks) than he already has in the past year. A scientist/researcher who caters to the emotions and desires of those following his research, is no longer a researcher, in my opinion.
