Finally!!

Finally got into some pike. Caught 3 today biggest one 23 inches. Not big but fun on a fly rod. Also caught a nice bass.

Pike on a fly are an absolute blast!

Look around for some big pike flies, you'll have a blast chucking them.

Look for Barry Reynolds' books "Pike on the Fly" and "Mastering Pike on the Fly" for some good sources. I thought Jack Penny covered it some in his book "Northern Pike" but I just looked and did not see it in the table of contents or in the index, so it must have been a more casual mention.

This is a great time of year to be chasing them with a fly rod - we pulled a bunch out of a creek near me last Saturday, all about the same size as your fish.

Yes caught them at Carver lake off of century ave. Finally getting to where you can wade out and not get tangled in the vegetation. Went to Powers this weekend and it is still pretty thick close to shore. Going to give it another shot before in laws arrive for the weekend.

Good Luck, I moved to Woodbury a few months ago and want to find lakes closer to home. I usually will take the boat out, but want to find somewhere where I can go burn a few hours afterwork and not use up a ton of gas in the process.

You know of any boat launches at any of the lakes you have fished around there? I went and looked at teh one at battle, but there is no way I am geeting my boat in there.

Not really. Check Lake Elmo or White Bear Lake, both are pretty close.

Or Silver Lake in Oakdale, off Century. Near Fleet Farm.
