Chevrolet 4.8 Liter V8 Engine...

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone heard/had experience with this engine?

I am looking for a new Chevy truck and see that this is an engine option compared to the 5.3 Liter V8. I pull a 6x12 hunting trailer, 20ft Pontoon, and a fish house.

I have read specs, but it doesnt give any opinions on it.

Any advice of the engine is appreciated.

I have one in a 01, 207,000 miles, been a great truck & I would not hesitate to buy another one. I pull a 16.5 alumacraft lunker and it goes great. With the stuff you're pulling, I think a 5.3 would be the way to go.

Get the 5.3. Gets about the same mileage as the 4.8 but has more power.

my aunt had a 99 with this motor. it was a company truck, hauled things, pulled a dump trailer, and went to 389,000 miles before losing compression in a cylindar. reliable pickup!
