I lost my uncle whom i was really close to...We did alot of pheasant hunting together and i want to get a tattoo in memory of him. Does anyone have any ideas how I can incorporate his name, a cross and possibly a pheasant or a deer into it?

If you go to a good shop, they will also help you draw it out. i have a buddy who has his back covered in fire, flames with a fire truck coming out the center. very cool. took him a couple years to finish but the tattoo artist helped him figure it all out. i have a taz and a tribal symbol on the other arm. Taz is holding a wrench in one hand. if you can imagine it they can draw it. good luck

Matt has a good idea. I can invision that. Maybe take a look at some present/past pheasant stamps. Speaking of tats; I guess I just don't get the significance of the current style of tats with big fat strips of black in running hither and yon up and down arms and legs. Just sayin.

If you wanted to do a pheasant...Maybe have some grass or corn that the pheasant is flying out of. The pheasant is partially covering a cross- but not the horizontal portion of the cross. the horizontal portion would have your uncles name on it.

I think that would look pretty cool.

I did something similar to honor both my grandpas. One I bowled with a lot and the other we always played cribbage. I have a part of the cribbage board we always used covered by a bowling ball. And out the top of the bowling ball are the 4 5's and the jack symbolizing the perfect cribbage hand. Both names are on it as well. turned out good.

So, it can definitely be done. The tattoo guys will draw it for you with any idea. I had a friend who could draw and helped me out with it....

Good luck and show us a picture when you get it done!

As a fan of ink and friend to a few tattoo artists, don't get to hung up in a ton of detail, unless you have a large canvas, and hefty checkbook. I'm just being honest, the detail of having a full pheasant will include a nice price tag, I love the feather idea above, maybe have the pheasant feather be a feather pen and that pen writing your uncles name on your skin, or even maybe the pen is writing on an antler to get the deer angle as well. I think you have a wonderful idea for honoring someone who meant so much to you. I can't wait to see what you end up with!

I got my first tattoo a year ago. If something was going on my skin permanently, I needed it to have some meaning behind it that meant something to me. I ended up having them draw up 4 deer antlers intertwined in a circle. Inside the antlers, I had them put the initials of my daughters. It turned out pretty cool. The 4 antlers sybolize my family and the power and strength we have. Because they are intertwined, that symbolizes the closeness and support my family has. Last but not least, my daughters initials are in the middle and will always be protected by our family. Too much symbolization? Yeah, probably. But dang, this thing is with me for the rest of my life so I found it important for it to have meaning. Go get your tat. If you're happy with it, you'll never regret it.
