laportian
Hey I'm interested in slapping together a cheap blind for my 16 foot v hull fishing boat. It's a single console with a raised bow up front. Anybody got any ideas or pics they could post. I'm thinking maybe a conduit frame or possibly PVC. We made one last year out of PVC for my cousins pontoon and it was ok. I guess bottom line I want cheap and easy. Thanks
schr0563
I hunt out of a bright white alumacraft. I simply lay sheets of burlap/camo fabric on my fishing boat when I hunt late season/big water divers. Park the boat in some rushes or grass. If they come in low then you will be just fine. paceman
Yep. just stick it in the weeds, cover things with burlap, decoy bags.. it works well.
Superduty
Use 3/4" conduit and make a "scissors" style folding blind if you want to build your own. Lots of plans and pics online if you search it out. You will need to find a conduit bender to do it right though.
JBar
I've been tinkering with homemade blinds for a while, every year seems to be my next and brightest idea. But some pointers that I have found is make shure the blind can be folded down otherwise the first time that you trailer it down the road it might not be in the same shape as when it left the house . I personaly like to use pvc as it takes paint better than galvanized conduit and much lighter. Another thing that I've found comes in handy is to make the blind as easy to take off the boat as possible if the boat is not stricktly dedicated to waterfowl hunting as I use my Jon boat for trapping. Tinker and find out what works for you. Good luck!!
blue_healer_guy
Ive tried the pvc before and go with conduit, much stronger and a blind covers it up anyway.
Gordie
Something I been mulling over for awhile is to take old plastic/fake xmas trees and paint the branches the different camo colors you know tans, browns greens, and so on then take PVC or make a conduit frame and drill a bunch of holes in it then stick the old xmas tree branches in the holes.this way you can add more branches as you need them and storage would be easy coulpe of camo totes. You should be able to find the fake xmas trees at just about any garage sale
JBar
That is a good idea Elwood! Now where to find some?
Gordie
I was thinking a guy could put a add up for them like "wanted old fake xmas trees" gonna have the wife post them at her school and her work its a start and check out the garage sales that are still going on.. Next thing you know I'll have a forest of fake pine trees guess I'll have to find some fake pine smell and fake pine cones and fake pine squirrels and
laportian
Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards going with PVC. I figure that if I put a few more tees in it it will be more stable. I like the burlap Idea. Last year when we did the pontoon we used those grass mat things and it seemed to almost be too much for the PVC. But if we had more tees for support it would have been fine. I also am leaning towards not glueing all of it together so it can be disassembled easily. I also wonder if I should keep it low or have it up a bit higher. I guess I'd like to be able to sit on the pedistal seats. Mabe not up front in the bow area as that maybe too high to try to be concealed. Any thoughts? Superduty
Has anybody tried to make a home made version of the beavertail blind? I havn't seen one in person, but it looks similar to an otter or similar flip over fish house hub and poles setup.
