Lots of people including myself are having the same issue. Mine does it sitting on the trailer. Through an email HB tried to feed me some [PoorWordUsage] that it was because of satellites pinging all at once, Lol. I called them and the woman I spoke with said the same thing. Funny thing was, I had my garmin in my hand and it read 0.0mph, when I told her that, she told me to send it in this fall.

Make sure you have the latest updates installed. I have never had this issue but hear it all the time. Its usually in newer models too. Hmmmm? I just installed the newest updates on my 957c so I could run Lakemaster Chips on it and I like some of the stuff it does for you. Now I need a lakemaster Chip that has Island Lake north of Duluth. Come to find out my Lakemaster Mn. chip doesnt have any depths on Island. frown

It's got all the updates installed. 5.400 is the newest version. I love the unit, but for Humminbird to come out and say something that we all know isn't right, lft a bad taste in my mouth. I wonder how many people they try to pull that on. I need it for trolling. I gave them a call yesterday again trying to resolve this FAST, not in 8-20 days. The supervisor still hasn't returned my call...

The tech told her(the supervisor), that it may be caused my the internal antenna. They offered to send me an external first, but I asked that they just test a new unit for me and send it. If this doesn't work, I'll call them back and get the antenna too. I was having some transducer issues as well, so I'll be getting a new ducer too. It took a little convincing as they wanted me to send mine in, but so far I'm happy with the outcome.

So do all the new models use GPS for speed rather than the old speed sensor at the back of the boat?I know everyone tells me to get with the times but I guess I'm just old school simple that way.c63

Chris I can't answer your ? but no you are not old school. I have both on my boat. There have been solar flares on the sun that has been causing problems with all GPSs and their ability to give you the true speed. I don't know if it is still a problem right now but I noticed it about a month ago. Even though we were going 2.4 to 2.6 MPH on the GPS I could tell we were going a lot closer to 3.5 to 4 MPH because of how easy it was for certain plugs to blow out. It was on my buddies boat and he thought he did not have a speed sensor. He did but I did nor find out till we loaded the boat. I should have known because most temp sensors are also a speed sensor at least on Lowrance products.

HI got the antenna installed and I have NO more issues with the speed being off.

did you test out a new unit? did it still have issues? does the antenna screw into the unit its self or do you have to install it on the boat. i use my unit mainly as a portable unit so i dont want to have to carry around another piece.

thanks.

Just got off the phone with Humminbird. They are sending me an external GPS free of charge. They said the issue is from the refresh rate of the gps being too fast. They also said they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.

Once again great customer service from Humminbird.
