Scent free or leave cloths at the pit?

Recommended Posts

I've been told both. What does everyone do?

An old bear guide used to leave an old sweaty t-shirt at the bait site everytime he baited. I've also been told that you have to stay scent free at all time when baiting and hunting. What is everyone thoughts?

Hey nub, wat I do is this, i work in a sweaty welding shop an leave to bait as soon as im done with work, the site i hit in the morning has me leaching with coffee an sweat an I walk the hlf mile with 20 lb goodie pack an a bucket of grease an a bucket of bait. I stink when i bait. Pure an simple. The bear associate this with the food an all is good. I spray bug dope at the site to. the bear tolerates these smells cause hes getting fed with sugary comestables. Some spray a rag at the site some swap out shirts at the site. But when i hunt I try to limit my scent as much as possible. If you do this an only limit your scent wen you hunt, its like youve left the area an alls well. This is what works for me. others have different techniques that work for them. Later boar

I always leave the T shirt I walked in with and take the other out with me that I left there the last time.

I also spray some of the bug spray I am going to use on that t shirt.

Seems to have worked well in the past so far.

I have went bear hunting twice and took a bear both times.
