Opinion/Experience With:

Looking at a used car(2007 Chev, Impala SS, V8 5.3 ltr) with approximately 83,000 miles. Car is in excellent condition but the mileage has me a little nervous. Anyone want to share any information/opinions/experiences with the Impala's and engine life. Been looking for an SS and this one I'm seriously considering for a 2nd car for the spouse.

Well that will certainly get her to Target quick.! wink

My wife has an Impala with the 3.9 that now has 80,000 and has been flawless so far.

As far as the 5.3, it is a proven motor that has a great track record for longevity.

With over 300+ horsepower, my main concern would be transmission and driveline life based on how the previous owner treated it, and how "spirited" you and your wife are with the gas pedal.

Other than that I've got no complaints on our Impala.

Sounds like alot of highway miles. Not a big deal IMO. I have friends that have impala's and we have a few at work. They drive very nice, get low 30's mpg. 1 buddy has one around 150k and it is still running great.

I agree with this. This Gen Impalas haven't changed much for a long time and have proven to be pretty solid, along with the 5.3. I know a guy that has one and hasn't had any problems with it, but he doesn't hammer on it either.

So as long as the previous owner hasn't being doing neutral drops, I would think it would be OK. I would imagine you are going to start running into some maintenance stuff at some point with it at that mileage.
