Bob Horn
I have been lucky with this motor until this year. It bogs down when I try to give it gas. I have to feather it to get it to get on plane. Then runs great. I have tried different cleaners in the gas and retaped the gas threads on the portable fuel tank. I also put new plugs in it twice this year to eliminate that. Trying to get the boat back on the trailer,I have to try and rev it up slowly or it will kill the motor. Help!!!

It sounds a lot like mine was doing before I had a compression check done and found out one of the rings was stuck. Hopefully not that! marine_man
Sounds like carb problems to me as well. Might be time for a good cleaning.marine_man

Bob Horn
Well I took your advice and look into the carbs. When I took the hood off I seen the screws for the fuel pump. I said what the heck check to see if they're snug. They weren't, so I tighten them. I put the muffs on and started it. It sounded good but I took the carb cleaner and sprayed around the gaskets and I heard something that sounded like it was sucking air. Well I tighten the carb bolts also. They were slightly loose. I will give an update on Monday. I am leaving on a smallie hunt and I will tell you if the motor runs better or not. Thanks to all that has helped. marine_man
I'd add a compression test to the list of things to check if this didn't solve the problem.. an air leak doesn't help things.marine_man
