My first crankbait

Recommended Posts

Really nice! You wanted to think what I care about? Try lightening up the head a little. Get rid of the first stripe right behind the eye. Add some blue and more orange. Just my thoughts on a more realistic look. I think you just gave me my winter project instead of tying jigs. grin

i agree. just ordered a new batch of them. these were merely practice baits as i plan to hopefully start a small side biz. indeed, tying jigs all winter long can be rather boring i think..lol especially when all i can tie is simple hair jigs and feathered trebles..haha

Another vote for Devcon 2Ton Epoxy (30 minute). You need to thin with a few drops of 90-99% IPA and then mix for 30-60 seconds. Keep turning the lure for 15 minutes or so to prevent slumping. Use some inexpensive Flux brushes to apply. And maybe get a lure turner (I used a coat hanger and electric drill) so you can coat 2-3 lures at a time. Hair dryer will fix some imperfections if you make a boo-boo. Keep the lures on the coat hanger for 16 hours and they are good to go.

its rock solid, shiny and smooth(well kinda still need some practicing). Have anyone used this method yet? i personally like this method as its clean, already has a reusable brush and cures in just a few hours.
