JesseParker1
Hey guys and gals!I wanted to get some "expert" advice from all you folks today. I am a muskie fishherman that is going to Canada for a 8 day fishing trip and would like to pick up a decent rod/reel. I have been looking a ton of different options, so I thought i woudl go to the source.Rememeber I really only walleye fish a couple times a year so I dont want to drop as much as my Thorne Bros custom rod, but something nice that i can get a lot of feel from. Thanks! OnAFly
Fenwick HMGs are a hundred bucks. Put a Pflueger Pres on there and you've got an awesome walleye set-up for ~160 or so.
Northlander
For a good jiggin rod I would look into the Limit Creek "Smoothie" and then toss a good reel like the President or a mid range Shimano. Should be able to do it in the $150 range.
goblueM
or, what i would do is get a bix box store combo, such as C-store's Tourney Trail rods with a quantum/shimano reeldecent for the price (60-100 bucks, depending on the setup) and you won't have to worry about abusing it on a fly-in. might just be me but I've never felt the need to take a really nice rod to Canada for jigging walleyes or casting cranks
JesseParker1
I ended up going with a 6'3 St. Croix Avid with a Pfluger Presidental XT. I think that that will be just fine!

NCLaker
You should be very happy with that combo. Good luck in Canada
dfv87
You will love that reel for the cost... PFlueger makes some nice stuff... for the price point especially.
