Good flies for Fly fishing for panfish

If they are taking 'em, throw nothing but poppers. I have some that I made from craft foam (do a search on YOUre favorite video side for 'gurgle pop') and a pair of small poppers I picked up from gander mountain. I've only thrown three or so different poppers this season and haven't needed variety at all.

If they're nibbling poppers and not really taking, switch to something small and subsurface/very slow sinking. If you're dead set on topwater but they still aren't really taking poppers, look at small dry flies typically used for trout. I have had very good luck with a standard parachute adams, and I like to use some kind of floatant (gel that you rub on dry flies to help prevent absorbing water).

Don't limit yourself to surface stuff. Small #10 woolybuggers are great panfish flies. They tend to take the bigger fish as well since they are imitating a minnow as opposed to a small insect.

One piece of advice: Crimp your barbs. It will save you a headaches and a dead 4" sunfish.
