Just wondering how many guys out there hook there minnows in the tail when live baiting? Also when is the best time to do this?

I usually will do this in the fall after I've located a school of fish. The tail hooking a generally a slow precise presentation geared at triggering negative or neutral fish.

This can be a very effective technique, I use it year round. I like to use a hearty minnow like a readtail. This technique works best after you locate a school of walleyes, moving slow and letting your minnow struggle can really trigger strikes when nothing else does.
